revive acupuncture studio

Revive is a locally minded venue that seeks to improve the health and strength of the community.

Revive Acupuncture Studio is owned and operated by William Akehurst. William is a registered acupuncturist who completed his studies in Victoria, BC. During his studies, William moved abroad to China for four years, where he completed a one year internship at the Dalian Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Here acupuncture was aimed at helping stroke patients regain lost functions, and treating back, spinal, and neurological disorders.

William has also completed an internship at the Anton Jayasuriya Memorial Clinic, in Colombo, Sri Lanka, where he received an honourary Master's Degree. During this internship William had experience in treating Parkinson's Disease.

These experiences have helped expand William's vision and grasp of acupuncture and TCM, inspiring the Wednesday night Community Clinic, from 6:30 - 8:30pm. Thirty minute seated acupuncture treatments are provided at $25 per treatment, on a walk-in basis.

Q: Does acupuncture hurt?
A: No acupuncture does not hurt. Most often people don't even feel the needle break the skin.

Q: How does acupuncture work?
A: Acupuncture helps to prevent energy blockages in the body. It uses points on the body that are similar to electrical outlets in a wall. Each needle basically helps to turn the power back on to help keep the energy moving properly, which helps to maintain health.

Q: What can acupuncture treat?
A: Acupuncture can treat many diseases but it is especially good at treating aches and pains from sports injuries, arthritis, car accidents, sciatica, migraines, and tennis or golfer's elbow. Acupuncture is also effective in treating depression and anxiety disorders.

Q: Is acupuncture covered by insurance?
A: Most extended health plans now offer some coverage on acupuncture treatments.
